Summer Dorm Parents

Lexington Prep School (LPS), a program of Lexington Christian Academy,  is seeking responsible, positive and hard-working individuals to serve our program as summer dorm parents. Candidates should have completed at least 2 years of college and have a passion for working closely with students. This summer, LPS is offering three intensive 2-week long test prep programs that go beyond academics and provide transformative experiences for middle and high school students.  These highly personalized programs are limited to a small number of international and domestic participants.

Ideal candidates will be positive mentors and friends to our students, are efficient, can think on their feet and have exceptional interpersonal skills.  Dorm parents will work collaboratively in teams and share residential and academic assistance responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide airport and extracurricular transportation; Supervise and participate in extracurricular activities
  • Proctor and grade student tests; Be available for student academic (homework) and residential needs
  • Communicate and work closely with academic and residential directors

Job Requirements

We are looking for high-energy individuals who are:

  • Available to work from July 6, 2019 – August 17, 2019; Live on-site at our North Campus
  • Available for a training on Tuesday, July 6, 2019 from 8 am – 12 pm
  • Flexible with a non-traditional schedule; 6 working days and 1 weekday off per week
  • In possession of a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record
  • Positive and place student needs as a priority
  • Microsoft Office proficient and who can communicate well
  • Welcoming and able to provide safe spaces for students

Preference will be given to applicants who are conversational or fluent in Spanish.

Salary and Benefits

  • $750 per week plus room and board for an average of 50 hours of work per week
  • No other benefits included

Environment:  LPS’s boarding facility is situated on 6 acres of landscaped grounds, on the North Campus, just a half mile from the Lexington Christian Academy main campus. Students are immersed in academic courses throughout the day and are supported after school hours by a highly competent, caring residential staff. Lexington Prep School is a part of the LCA-X suite of programs at Lexington Christian Academy.

Qualifications: Candidates must be committed to fostering a community atmosphere in the dormitory facility.  Previous experience in a residence life program is a plus. Recognizing that LPS is strongly committed to historic Christianity, we expect that candidates will subscribe to the Academy’s Statement of Faith, Standards for Christian Living and be members in good standing of a Christian church.

Summer Teachers

Lexington Prep School (LPS), a program of Lexington Christian Academy,  is seeking passionate, engaging, and flexible teachers who are able to motivate students to strive for excellence. Our instructors play a pivotal role in our various programs including our Thanksgiving Program and our two-week summer programs as they not only help students raise standardized test scores, but also teach critical thinking and reasoning skills that aid students in everyday academic and extracurricular life. Teachers must demonstrate professionalism, be able to think on their feet, and tailor curricula to a diverse group of students, as our students have hailed from 52 different countries.

We are looking for a teachers to teach the following test prep classes:  SAT Reading/Writing, SAT Math, SSAT Verbal, SSAT Math, and TOEFL. In addition, we are looking for Intensive Academic English (IAE) teachers.  Finally, we are in need of teachers to teach classes on writing essays for SAT, SSAT and Common App. Teacher training available for all programs.

  • Work closely and develop a healthy rapport with students
  • Communicate and work closely with Academic Director
  • Attend meetings and training sessions
  • Provide thoughtful comments for progress reports

Teachers will be paid by the hour and must be available to work at least 2 hours per day per contracted subject (SAT math vs SSAT Verbal vs Common App Essay, etc.)
